The Fraser Valley Stage is lighting up the local arts scene with laughter, music, and a touch of fairy tale magic as it presents its much-anticipated production of Shrek the Musical. Based on the beloved DreamWorks animated film and the Broadway sensation, this heartwarming performance is capturing the imagination of audiences of all ages.
Staged with vibrant costumes, elaborate sets, and a cast filled with local talent, the show celebrates everything that makes community theatre so special—collaboration, creativity, and connection. From the grumpy but lovable ogre to the wisecracking Donkey and feisty Princess Fiona, the characters come to life with energy and heart.
“This show is pure joy,” said the show’s director. “It’s a story about embracing who you are and finding friendship in unexpected places. That’s something we can all relate to—and we need more of that right now.”
Performances are being held at a local theatre in Abbotsford, where families, students, and theatregoers alike are gathering to experience the magic. Featuring memorable songs like “I’m a Believer” and “Freak Flag,” the musical delivers both big laughs and tender moments.
The production also provides a meaningful platform for emerging artists across the Fraser Valley. Actors, musicians, and backstage crew—many of whom are volunteers—are gaining valuable experience while bringing something unforgettable to their community.
As word spreads and tickets continue to sell, Shrek the Musical is proving to be more than just entertainment—it’s a reminder of the power of the arts to uplift, unite, and inspire.
The Fraser Valley Stage invites audiences to join in the fun and cheer for the underdogs, misfits, and heroes that make this story—and the community—truly extraordinary.
The Fraser Valley Stage production of Shrek the Musical will be at the Abbotsford Arts Centre from April 18 to 26th, 2025. There will be three matinee performances and 5 evening performances.
