Abbotsford has once again shown the heart and strength of its community spirit. The 2025 “Make a Difference Sale,” a long-standing local tradition of generosity and grassroots fundraising, raised an unprecedented $490,000—shattering previous records and reaffirming that when Abbotsford comes together, big things happen.

Hosted by dedicated volunteers and supported by a wide network of donors, shoppers, and community groups, this year’s event was not only about great deals—it was about making real impact. The funds raised will directly support a wide array of local causes, including youth mentorship programs, mental health initiatives, crisis support, food banks, and refugee aid in the Fraser Valley.

More Than a Sale: A Community Movement

Held annually at the MCC Centre on Gladys Avenue, the Make a Difference Sale has grown over the years from a modest thrift fundraiser into a signature community event. What makes it truly special is that everything sold—furniture, clothing, household items, books, and even locally made crafts—has been donated by residents who believe in the power of giving.

Shoppers lined up early, not just in search of hidden gems but with the understanding that every purchase was a vote for kindness, inclusion, and support for those in need.

Powered by Volunteers, Driven by Compassion

The event owes much of its success to the tireless work of volunteers. In the weeks leading up to the sale, community members of all ages helped sort, clean, organize, and price thousands of donated items. On sale day, the atmosphere was electric—smiles, laughter, and heartfelt conversations filled the air, as people from across Abbotsford united under a shared purpose.

One longtime volunteer described it best: “It’s not just about the money we raise—it’s about showing up for our neighbours. That’s what Abbotsford does best.”

Supporting Homegrown Solutions

What makes the $490,000 raised this year especially significant is that these funds stay local. The organizations benefiting from the sale are deeply embedded in Abbotsford’s social fabric. They provide safe spaces for vulnerable youth, training for new immigrants, food for families facing hardship, and emergency care for those in crisis.

With affordability challenges and social needs growing across the Fraser Valley, these funds will make a tangible difference in people’s lives—right here at home.

A Thank You to Abbotsford

In a time when fundraising is increasingly difficult, Abbotsford has once again proved that generosity is one of its strongest traits. The Make a Difference Sale is more than just an event; it’s a reflection of the city’s values—resilience, care, and connection.

As the organizers look ahead to next year, one thing is clear: Abbotsford residents don’t just give—they give with purpose, and with heart.
