Situated along the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway, the Squamish Adventure Centre stands as a beacon for travelers and locals alike, offering a gateway to the myriad adventures that Squamish, British Columbia, has to offer. I always enjoy seeing this building next to the highway on my way up to Whistler.

Squamish Adventure Centre: Your Launchpad to the Sea-to-Sky

Nestled along the Sea-to-Sky Highway, the Squamish Adventure Centre is a notable landmark displaying its distinctive architecture. This 5,773-square-foot facility serves as the town's sole purpose-built visitor centre, welcoming hundreds of thousands of guests each year. Featuring a curved roof inspired by the eagles of the Squamish Valley and constructed with locally sourced Douglas fir timber, it's more than just a stopover—it’s a hub for travel, culture, and community. Opened in 2006, this architectural icon draws inspiration from soaring eagles and towering peaks, symbolizing the spirit of exploration that defines the region. Tourism Squamish

Tourists and locals alike use the Centre as a launchpad for adventure in the Sea-to-Sky region, from booking climbing and hiking tours to planning road trips to Whistler and Vancouver. Inside, guests can enjoy a cozy café, curated gift shop, public amenities, and a 45-seat theatre used for cultural events and presentations.

In 2023, the Centre underwent significant renovations funded by a $700,000 grant from the Province of British Columbia's Tourism Dependent Communities Fund. These upgrades aimed to enhance visitor experience and included the development of the immersive "Squamish Story" exhibit, which showcases the rich culture of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and the area's colonial history. Additional improvements refreshed the space and bolstered its role as a transportation hub for airport and downtown Vancouver shuttles. REMINET+5squamish.ca+5The Squamish Reporter+5
