TransLink has unveiled a bold proposal to significantly expand bus service in Langley, introducing new routes that aim to improve connectivity and convenience for residents, workers, and visitors alike. Among the highlights of the proposed expansion are new routes to Gloucester Industrial Park—a key employment hub—and improved access to a major municipal park, enhancing public transportation options in some of the region’s fastest-growing areas.
The proposed changes are part of TransLink’s broader effort to expand transit in underserved suburban regions and reduce reliance on personal vehicles. Langley, with its growing population and increasing development, has been a top priority in Metro Vancouver’s transit vision.
“These new services are designed to connect people more efficiently to where they live, work, and play,” said a TransLink spokesperson. “Improving access to Gloucester will support economic activity, while routes serving local parks will encourage outdoor recreation and better quality of life.”
The proposed route to Gloucester Industrial Park would provide much-needed transit access for thousands of workers who currently rely on cars to commute. Meanwhile, a second key route would serve a significant regional park area, allowing families, youth, and seniors to access green space without needing to drive.
Community engagement sessions are planned to gather feedback and ensure the new routes reflect local needs. The service additions are being considered as part of TransLink’s next Investment Plan, with implementation potentially beginning in phases as early as 2026, pending funding and regional approval.
The Langley bus expansion proposal marks another step toward building a more accessible and sustainable transit network in the Fraser Valley. If approved, it will bring increased mobility, economic opportunity, and environmental benefits to one of B.C.’s most dynamic communities.
