Vancouver, BC - April 10, 2025 - The World Ski & Snowboard Festival (WSSF), affectionately known by locals as WSSF, is elevating the excitement in Whistler until April 13, 2025. This week-long celebration of spring unites adrenaline-pumping competitions with the vibrant mountain culture, creating an unforgettable experience both on and off the slopes. Held against the stunning backdrop of Whistler Blackcomb—North America’s largest ski resort with over 8,100 acres of skiable terrain—this festival draws athletes, families, and revellers from around the globe to revel in the crisp spring air and lingering snow-pack.

The Festival that started on Monday will be getting extra busy on Friday, the start of a weekend where even more thrill-seekers can expect a day filled with competitive spirit and camaraderie. The morning begins with the U14 and U16 Grab & Go Breakfast at the Longhorn Saloon, where young athletes can fuel up on hearty offerings like fresh-baked muffins, locally sourced fruit, and steaming hot chocolate, all served in the saloon’s rustic, wood-paneled dining area from 6:45 am to 7:30 am. Early loads on the Fitzsimmons Express start at 7:30 am, whisking athletes up the mountain under the golden glow of sunrise, with the chairlift’s iconic red cabins swaying gently above the evergreen-lined slopes.

The competitions kick off at 9:00 am, with the U14 athletes showcasing their skills in the Women’s Slalom on Ptarmigan—a steep, groomed run known for its challenging turns—and the Men’s Team Relay on Upper Dave Murray, a legendary course echoing its Olympic downhill legacy. Meanwhile, the U16 competitors tackle the Men's and Women's Giant Slalom on Raven, a wide, flowing track beneath the jagged peaks of Blackcomb Mountain. Pass holders can enjoy a unique viewpoint at the Mountain Retreat Tent at the top of Garbanzo Chair from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, sipping complimentary coffee and nibbling on artisanal snacks while cheering from a cozy, heated tent adorned with panoramic views of the competition below.

As the sun sets, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink over Whistler Village, excitement continues with team meetings at the Hilton Whistler Resort, where coaches and athletes gather in the sleek Taman Sari meeting room to debrief over hot cider and strategy boards. The day culminates in an evening social for volunteers and parents at Buffalo Bills, a lively venue famous for its dance floor and walls lined with vintage ski memorabilia. Expect live music from local bands, craft beers from Whistler Brewing Co., and a warm atmosphere that proves the festival is not solely about competition but also community building and celebration.

With such a packed schedule and a plethora of activities tailored for skiing enthusiasts and their families—including free film screenings, art exhibitions, and après-ski parties throughout the week—WSSF promises an exhilarating experience from dawn until dusk. Event tickets and detailed schedules, including additional highlights like the Pro Photographer Showdown on April 9, are available at wssf.com, so be sure to secure your spot in this spectacular extravaganza!

These additions—specific locations, sensory details, and local flavor—bring the festival to life while staying true to the original framework. Let me know if you’d like further tweaks!
